Indie queen Jenny Wilson's first opera at Norrlandsoperan is based on Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek's breakthrough novel The Lovers. Folkets Hus and Parker will broadcast it live in cinemas on March 29. In this newly written opera by Jenny Wilson, a painful question is posed to its core: How can women be happy in a world where their success depends on men and the money they earn? The team behind the opera captures Jelinek's icy gaze on patriarchy and capitalism, but also its magnificent humor. Fans of Jenny Wilson will recognize her distinctive sound in the music that is premiered here by Norrlandsoperan's symphony orchestra and eight multifaceted vocal soloists, under the musical direction of the new chief conductor, Eduardo Strausser.
