It is the proximity to the sea that characterizes Kronören. Only a narrow headland and a road bank connect the area with the mainland. Incidentally, it is surrounded by water: Nordmalingsfjärden and Degerfjärden. As a bridge between the magnificent neighbor to the south, the High Coast, and the low-key Kvarkennaturen, Kronören claims its uniqueness, a uniqueness in terms of both plant and animal life.
People's lives in Kronören have always been dependent on the sea. In the past, the event provided a risky income, now the sea and the archipelago are mainly associated with holidays and recreation, summer cottage idyll and nature experiences.
Living in the village of Öresund on Kronören meant for a long time an exposed life in a roadless country. The isolation did not begin to break until the 1940s. Then you got on the phone and the contact with the outside world became easier. In the early 1960s, the road was broken out and electricity was installed on the farms.
The original archipelago life with fi spoon and small farm is long gone, instead the summer cottages now dominate. Nevertheless, a certain influx of year-round residents has taken place in recent years and today about twenty people live out there.
