Join a food adventure

This summer, you can join a digital food journey through the Umeå region's countryside. The municipalities of Nordmaling, Bjurholm, Vännäs and Vindel are behind the idea for "Out of town" which will show exciting places to visit and offer inspiration for cooking outdoors.

In nine episodes, Alfred and the dog Rut will ride around in their home-renovated motorhome and show beautiful places outside Umeå, or "Out of town" as the program series will be called. The excursion destinations will be from the municipalities of Vännäs, Vindeln, Bjurholm and Nordmaling and in the sections, local guests may also appear, such as entrepreneurs, or food-interested municipal residents.

- It is a really great assignment to work with something that is also an interest in my free time, says Alfred. There are many beautiful and even a bit odd places around here in the municipalities and I have not visited several places yet. In Vindeln, for example, we are going on a beaver safari with Aurora Borealis. To be able to show it together with Rut, drive around in our little motorhome and at the same time get to meet interesting and nice people in the area feels very fun.

Alfred is an experienced nature visitor and outdoor enthusiast and knows the county of Västerbotten quite well, but closer to the coast, the visits have not been so many until now. He is also used to cooking outdoors and has a background in restaurants where the interest in food grew and where the importance of good ingredients had a great focus.

- There has been some hiking in the mountains mainly and more towards the hinterland, but also in Europe. Since we have traveled a lot with the family, outdoor cooking has been a part of my life for a long time. In this program series, I hope that we will also be able to highlight the simplicity of this type of excursion, inspire more people to go out - and cook!

Do not miss the first episode that comes out during the day on June 17! In the first episode, Alfred and Rut visit Selsberget in Vännäs municipality where they meet Max Brändström Nyström who, among other things, runs the Instagram account "@varaute".
