Along the road towards Järnäs, in the village of Bredvik, is Lake Fickfjärden.
Fickfjärden has been used as a flax sink by the flax growers who were in the area at the turn of the century 1900. To soften the flax stalk, the flax was placed in water and "rotted". After a while, the berries had softened and could be prepared into yarn.
The lake has long been a popular place for various activities. It is said that the villagers in the 1920s arranged "walk on the water" competitions on the lake. With pontoon-equipped skis and poles in cookie jars, they competed to see who came farthest. During the 1990s, Gillesnappet on Easter Day has become a popular tradition.
