Gårtjärnshögen

Gårtjärnshögen is a rough walk marking between Bredvik and Järnäs villages. It is mentioned i.a. in documents from 1783 (marking no. 1 at the far right of the map) in a border dispute between Bredvik and Järnäs villages.

»Higher sand hill surrounded by marshy land, there were some stones lying like old ones

From E4 in Nordmaling, take off towards Levar and from there towards Järnäs and Bredvik. In Bredvik, turn left at the sign Östra Bredvik and follow the road for 400 meters.

After a slight curve, turn left up a hill and follow Smörbysjövägen, a forest road, to its end. It is a distance of just over 3 kilometers.

Park the car. In the far part of the turning plane, a tractor path goes down through the forest. Follow it to the clear-cut and then go over the clear-cut towards its far left corner almost down by the lake. There is the pile.
